It depends. Did you donate more than the standard deduction for your situation? If it was just a few hundred dollars worth, and you can’t itemize, they all you will have is the good feeling you have right now, with out any financial benefit.

Not unless your school is registered with the IRS as a charity. And even then, only if the value of what you donate, added to whatever else you are able to itemize, is more than the standard deduction for your filing status. If you aren’t itemizing, then you can’t deduct. Just bask in the warm fuzzy feeling of helping out.
